Cliff C. N. Sze, Ph.D.

I am currently a technical lead / engineering manager at Google. Previously, I was a research staff member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center and the Austin Research Laboratory.

Technical Leadership: With 20 years of experience leading global teams, I have a proven track record of driving organizational growth and nurturing management talent. My technical background spans a diverse range of environments, including research organizations, startups, independent consultants, and large enterprises.

Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge in algorithms, graph theory, and optimization techniques. Proficient in object-oriented programming and system design using Java/C/C++. Skilled in rapid prototyping with Perl/Tcl/Python.

Innovation & Recognition: Holds over 100 US patents (with international filings). Authored 3 book chapters, 10+ top-tier journal articles (IEEE/ACM), and 40+ refereed conference papers. In 2015, I was recognized as an Associate Editor for ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems (TODAES). I also served as the General Chair of the IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Physical Design in 2014, where I led a team of world experts through all facets of the conference, from paper reviews and keynote invitations to logistics and finance.

Communication & Influence: As an eloquent public speaker, I have been invited to present at over 30 universities and institutes worldwide. I am known for my excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
